    What is University of Melbourne Graduate Research Scholarships 2019?

    The  University of Melbourne is inviting applications for Graduate Research Scholarships 2019 from students applying for or enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University. The scholarship is available in two different variants namely Melbourne Research Scholarships (MRS) and Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarships. Under this scholarship, the high-achieving students will receive 100% fee remission and up to AUD 110,000.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must -

    • Be enrolled or have applied for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne
    • Meet the entry requirements of the programme
    • Have at least an Australian Bachelor degree of 4 years or an overseas equivalent with an overall average of more than 75% in the final year 
    • Be proficient in the English language

    What are the benefits ?

    Approximately 600 scholarships are disbursed under this scholarship that includes -

    • Full fee offset for up to 2 years (for students undertaking Masters by Research degree) or up to 4 years (for students undertaking a doctoral degree)
    • Living allowance of AUD 30,600 per annum pro-rata for up to 2 years (for Masters by Research degree) or up to 3.5 years (for doctoral degree)
    • Relocation grant of AUD 2,000 for students moving from territories or states other than Victoria or AUD 3,000 for students moving from outside Australia
    • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) single membership (for international students)

    What are the selection criteria ?

    The selection of international students for Graduate Research Scholarships is done on the basis of academic merit. The scoring and ranking of eligible candidates is done according to their academic achievements in the last completed degree and their research potential in their respective field of study. The following factors may also be taken into consideration for this scholarship -

    • Completion of a degree at the same level as the research course for which the scholarship is sought
    • Relevant professional experience
    • Referred publications
    • Composition of original music
