The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) invites applications for UTS International Research Training Program Scholarship (IRTP) 2021-22 from Ph.D. degree (Higher Degree by Research) applicants. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to outstanding research students. Selected scholars will receive a tuition fee reduction for 3 years, a living allowance of AUD 28,597 per year for up to three years, and overseas health cover benefits.
Who is offering this scholarship ?
The University of Technology, Sydney (Australia) is offering this scholarship and the Department of Education and Training, the Australian Government is funding it.
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- Be commencing a higher degree by research (HDR) study as an overseas student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth) at the University in the year of scholarship
- Not hold any similar stipend, scholarship, award, or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the IRTP Scholarship stipend rate to undertake the HDR (Note: Income earned from sources unrelated to the course of study is not subject to the 75% rule)
- Not receive an equivalent scholarship or award from the Commonwealth designed to offset HDR fees
What are the benefits ?
The selected scholars will receive the following benefits:
- Tuition fee for up to 3 years.
- Selected scholars will receive a tuition fee reduction for 3 years, a living allowance of AUD 28,597 per year for up to three years, and overseas health cover benefits.
- Overseas Health Cover (OSHC) for individual, spouse, and dependents for the duration of the program.
How can you apply ?
Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 2: Download the application form.
Step 3: Fill in all the necessary details in the application form. The new research students need to tick the 'YES' box in the 'SCHOLARSHIP/SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION' section of the course application and submit the admission form.

Application Start Date: 1st January 2020
Application Deadline: 15th January 2021
Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship is not available for the students whose admission to the postgraduate research program has not been accepted by the university.
- Overseas Health Cover benefits are accessible for a maximum period of 57 months.
- Stipend rates are indexed every year.
- Payments are made in equal fortnightly instalments directly into recipients’ accounts through the payment system of the university.
