    What is Charles Wallace India Trust Long Term Scholarship, UK 2024?

    Charles Wallace India Trust Long Term Scholarship, UK 2024 is an opportunity offered by the Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT)* in support of the British Council India, to Indian students pursuing specialization degrees, diplomas or professional courses. The selected candidate will receive a financial grant of £700 towards the costs of their stay in the UK. 
    *Established in 1981, Charles *Wallace India Trust is an entity that provides financial grants to Indian nationals, living in India and studying or working in the arts, heritage conservation, or humanities.

    Who is offering this scholarship ?

    The Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT)* in support of the British Council India is offering this scholarship.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:

    • be an Indian citizen residing in India
    • be between 28 and 38 years of age
    • have a first degree, diploma or professional qualification in the specialization
    • be proficient in the English language
    • have not received a CWIT grant within the previous 5 years

    Note:-

    CWIT covers the following Arts and Heritage Conservation fields of study: 

    • Arts 
      • Visual ArtsPerformance, e.g. Dance, Drama, Music, Directing
      • Film - including Script Writing and Direction
      • Photography
      • Design (but not Architecture)
      • Curating
      • Art History
    • Heritage Conservation 
      • Conservation architecture
      • Management of heritage projects or sites
      • Conservation of landscape
      • Management of museums and collections
      • Engineering, in relation to the conservation of heritage buildings and structures
      • Conservation of materials such as timber, stone, metal (including metal structures, armour and artefacts), paintings, photographs and film. Internships for painting conservators are sometimes hosted at the Tate conservation department
    • CWIT prefers applicants with significant working experience.

    What are the benefits ?

    The selected candidates will receive £700 towards the costs of their stay in the UK.

    Note:-

    • The CWIT grant does not include travel costs within India, UK visa costs or the costs of obtaining a valid IELTS certificate.
    • The grants are payable in the UK and do not cover international travel costs.
    • The grantees will also be expected to cover their travel costs within India and are required to obtain the appropriate level of insurance coverage for travel and medical emergencies.
    • Applicants planning to stay in the UK for more than three weeks are required to supplement the CWIT grant with other funding e.g. a grant from the Indian Council for Historical Research.

    What are the documents required for the Charles Wallace India Trust Long Term Scholarship, UK 2024?

    • Statement of Purpose, stating clearly the following points:
      • Which course the applicant is planning to follow? 
      • What does the applicant want to do in the UK?
      • How does the applicant plan to put this into use upon returning to India?
    • An IELTS Certificate (essential for unconditional acceptance for most UK courses).
    • A brief Curriculum Vitae (CV) including email and postal address (in pdf, docx, or doc of maximum size 10MB)
    • A photograph of the applicant (in jpeg, jpg, or png format)
    • Emergency name and contact details in India
    • A clear statement of what the applicant wants to achieve in the UK, and for academic researchers what sources the applicant wishes to consult- be as specific as possible (in not more than 2-3 pages)
    • An indication of how much time the applicant wishes to spend in the UK- remember the CWIT grant is reckoned to be sufficient for about 3 weeks
    • Names and addresses of two referees who know the applicant's work well and who have agreed to be referees
    • An assurance that the applicants are within the eligible age range and haven’t received a CWIT grant within the last 5 years
