Claes Isacson Scholarship 2021

The Gard invites applications for the Claes Isacson Scholarship 2021 from students who are 18 years and older. The scholarship intends to help young people finance their education at the university level with a view of finding work within the shipping and marine insurance sectors. The Claes Isacson Scholarship is awarded annually and is approximately up to USD 20,000.

The scholarship is being provided by Gard which is one of the world’s leading marine insurers.

To be eligible, an applicant must: 

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Have commenced studies at a university or equivalent educational institution
• Be studying the course related to the shipping industry and/or the marine insurance business

The selected scholar will receive a grant worth up to USD 20,000 which may be awarded to one student or may be split among several students.

The Selection Committee will interview selected applicants and then declare the final results. 

Application deadline: 01st April 2021

• The awardees will receive the scholarship in two tranches:
  1. The first tranche will be transferred directly to the nominated bank account after the verification of enrolment.
  2. The second tranche will be transferred at the beginning of the second semester.
• The scholarship awardees are expected to maintain a satisfactory standard of academic progress during the course program.
• Students need to comply with any requests for information made by the Gard Scholarship Committee.
• After the completion of the program, the scholarship recipients should submit a report to Gard’s Scholarship Committee summarising the benefits of receiving the award and explaining how the Scholarship funds were spent.
• Any kind of irregularity or misrepresentation of the information provided in the application may lead to disqualification and termination of the award.
