    What is College Board 90% Fee Waiver Program?

    College Board - the non–profit organization that owns the SAT college entrance exam - invites applications for the College Board 90% Fee Waiver Program. The program gives an opportunity to top performers in SAT to get a full tuition fee waiver at India Global Alliance member universities.

    Additionally, students can also get an opportunity to take the SAT for a 50% or 90% discount. 

    The academically talented but economically weaker students from India who score above a certain level in SAT will be designated as College Board India Scholars. The education of these College Board India Scholars will be co-funded by the College Board and India Alliance Members.

    Who is offering this scholarship ?

    This scholarship is being offered by the College Board in association with the India Global Alliance Members that include various prominent Indian universities.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    Eligibility for 90% SAT Fee Reduction 

    • Be a resident of India 
    • Be a student  in Class 11 or 12 
    • Have an annual household income of less than INR 8 Lakhs

    Eligibility for full College tuition scholarship 

    • Be a Top Performer in SAT exam (score of 1350 or more out of 1600)
    • Be enrolled in Class 12 for the session 2024-25
    • Have an annual household income of less than INR 8 Lakhs
    • Apply for admission to participating Indian universities 
    • Receive admission and enroll at a participating Indian university 

    Note: 

    • Students may only apply once in a financial year.
    • Students who have received a waiver from June 2024 to June 2025 are not eligible to apply for another waiver during this period.

    What are the benefits ?

    The top performers in SAT 2024 fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be designated as College Board India Scholars. These scholars will receive a full tuition fee waiver for the duration of the expected time to complete the degree.

    Note: Students are eligible to receive the same amount each year until the completion of their degree in case of consistent academic performance.

    How can you apply ?

    To receive a SAT Fee reduction voucher and apply for the scholarship, follow the below steps-

    Step 1: Go to Buddy4Study and request for the applicable SAT fee reduction voucher
    Step 2: Register or Log in to begin filling the application 
    Step 3: Fill in all the details and upload the necessary documents
    Step 4: You will now receive a voucher code in your registered Email
    Step 5: Visit the official SAT exam website and sign up to apply for SAT in May, Oct or Dec
    Step 6: Redeem the discount voucher while making the payment
    Step 7: Upload  the SAT confirmation email to Buddy4Study 
    Step 8: Take the SAT on the assigned date at your selected centre

    Q. What is SAT?
    A. The SAT is a globally available college entrance exam accepted by all U.S. and many international colleges and universities. All Indian universities that are part of the College Board’s India Higher Education Global Alliance initiative accept SAT as an entrance exam for students in India. The SAT is administered four times a year in India in the months of March, May, October, and December. You can take the SAT in any of these admins. The SAT measures what students learn in school and what they need to succeed in college.

     

    Q. What is College Board India Scholars Programme?
    A. Students who score 1350 or more out of a total score of 1600 on the SAT exam will be recognized by the College Board as College Board India Top Performers. Top performers from families with significant financial need (see eligibility criteria above) will be eligible to apply for a 100% college tuition scholarship at any of the participating Indian universities (see list of participating Indian universities above). Students need to be in Grade 12 when they take the SAT to qualify for the scholarships.

     

    Q. Can I participate in the College Board India Scholars Programme if I take the SAT exam in Grade 11?
    A. Students of Class 11 can avail the SAT fee reduction voucher, and they may use their SAT scores to apply to Indian Alliance member universities for admissions. To qualify for the scholarships, students need to take the SAT exam in Grade 12 for the 2023-2024 session. Any student taking the SAT exam while in Grade 11, will need to take the SAT exam again in Grade 12 to qualify for the College Board India Scholars programme.

     

    Q. To which Indian colleges and universities can I apply for admission with scholarship using the SAT exam?

    Q. In which cities are the SAT exams administered?
    A. The SAT can be taken at over 80 test centres in 40+ cities across India. Find a test centre near you hereNote: Change test dates on the search form to search for all available test centres.

     

    Q. How can you request for a SAT fee reduction voucher?
    A. Students who meet the eligibility criteria for 50% or 90% discount, should click on “Avail SAT Discount Voucher” to apply for the SAT fee reduction voucher. Upon receipt of payment of discounted SAT Fee, you will receive your voucher code within 2 days. Student should register and redeem the SAT voucher at the College Board SAT registration website and register for the May, Oct, or Dec SAT exam in 2023. Redeem the fee reduction voucher within 15 days of receipt of voucher from Buddy4Study or prior to registration deadline, whichever date is earlier. Watch this video to know more.

    A. The registration fee for the SAT in India is as follows: SAT without Essay: USD 96.50. However, eligible students can request for a SAT fee reduction voucher from Buddy4Study for the SAT exams in 2024 and get up to 90% discount.

     

    Q. Do I need to take the Essay option with the SAT exam?
    A. Indian universities that are part of the College Board's India Global Higher Education Alliance do not require the essay for admissions. However, some colleges and universities in the US and around the world may require the essay for their admission processes. If you plan to apply to colleges and universities in the US, please refer to their admission websites for essay requirement. For admission to Indian universities, essay is not required.

     

    Q. How long is the SAT test and what is tested in the exam?
    A. The SAT is three hours long, with an additional 50 minutes for the essay (optional). The SAT consists of two sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing.     A. Colleges require you to send official score reports directly from College Board. Before or after you take the SAT, you can choose to send your scores for free to all the India Global Alliance members.
