Financial Assistance to SC Students for Pursuing Higher Studies Abroad, Delhi 2024-25 is an opportunity provided by the Department for the Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minorities, Government of NCT Delhi, to students pursuing selected Masters and Ph.D. courses. The scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to 100 candidates for pursuing their studies in accredited institutions abroad. The selected candidates will receive a monthly grant of ₹5,000 with additional benefits.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a citizen of India
- be a domicile/ bonafide resident of Delhi
- be below 30 years of age as of the cut-off date of the respective year
- have secured a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in their last qualifying examination in a relevant degree
- be pursuing a degree in one of the following fields of study:
- Engineering & Management
- Pure Sciences & Applied Sciences
- Agriculture Sciences & Medicine
- International Commerce, Accounting & Finance
- Humanities & Social Science
- have a family income not exceeding ₹8,00,000 per annum
Note:-
- Bonafide residents must have documented proof of residence in Delhi for at least 5 years.
- Only a single child from a family is eligible for this scholarship, and the applicants must provide a self-certification for the same.
- Employed applicants must forward their application through their employer along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by the employer.
- Applicants are not allowed to avail themselves of scholarships for a course level for which they have already acquired qualifications.
What are the benefits ?
Selected candidates will receive:-
- Masters Degree Course: ₹5,00,000 per annum (maximum of ₹10,00,000 for 2 years) or actual amount, whichever is less.
- Ph.D. Course: ₹5,00,000 per annum (maximum of ₹20,00,000 for 4 years) or actual amount, whichever is less.
Note:-
- The amounts will be provided up to the completion of the course or the time mentioned above, whichever is less.
- Amounts will be provided only after confirmation of admission to the respective institution, subject to submission of relevant documents such as application forms/offer letter, visa, passport, bank details of the applicant etc. or any other document sought by the Department.
- The financial assistance will be admissible from the date of approval of the scheme and no past claims will be entertained.
- The financial assistance will be credited to the candidate's bank account in instalments. The first instalment will be credited after admission confirmation, with subsequent instalments every six months or annually, based on progress reports or other required documents from the institution or university abroad.

What are the documents required for the Financial Assistance to SC Students for Pursuing Higher Studies Abroad, Delhi 2024-25?
- Date of Birth proof (matriculation and other certificates)
- Aadhaar card
- Certificates/marksheets/degrees/diplomas of all previous qualifications
- Income certificate (in prescribed format issued by a competent authority of Delhi)
- Caste certificate (issued by a competent authority of Delhi)
- Offer letter from institution (if available)
- Admission letters or documents giving details of the university, expenditures during the stay etc.
- Self-declaration/undertaking
- No Objection Certificate (NOC, if applicable)
Note:- Self-declaration/undertaking has to be submitted in the prescribed format available in the scholarship guidelines document.
What are the selection criteria ?
Candidates will be shortlisted by a selection committee and will be called for an interview if deemed necessary.
In case of a tie, applicants older in age will receive preference.

Question 1: What is the total tenure of this scholarship?
Answer: The scholarship will be applicable for the duration of the chosen course.

Terms and Conditions
- Candidates must provide an undertaking stating they are not receiving/received any financial assistance for the course of study for which they have applied for the scholarship.
- Candidates must provide a self-declaration/undertaking stating that they will pay back the provided amount to the government in case they discontinue their studies.
- Candidates are not allowed to change institutions or courses of study under the scholarship.
- Selected candidates must return to India after the completion of their studies.
- Candidates can be allowed to stay abroad after course completion for a maximum period of 2 years, subject to the decision of the government of Delhi NCT. Written reasons for the stay must be provided and the candidate must inform the government immediately after returning to India. No financial assistance will be provided for this period.
- Candidates must remain in India for a minimum period of 5 years after their return.
- Candidates who were in government service prior to the scholarship must continue to do so after their return for a period of 5 years.
- Candidates must provide a declaration stating they have not acquired/going to acquire qualification for the course they have applied the scholarship for, from an Indian institution.
- Students with an unconditional offer letter from an accredited foreign university may be considered for the award on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to other scheme conditions and slot availability.
- Candidates must submit a course completion certificate from their respective institution to the Secretary, Department for Welfare of SC/ST/OBC, Delhi.
- Violation of scholarship terms and conditions, or adverse reports will result in the candidate being liable to refund the scholarship amount.
- If a candidate has acquired the scholarship through false information, they will be debarred from and will be asked to refund the scholarship amount they have received so far with 15% compound interest. They will also be blacklisted from receiving any future scholarship.
