Fulbright Kalam Climate Fellowship for Academic and Professional Excellence 2025-26 is an opportunity offered by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), that empowers Indian faculty and researchers to teach, conduct research, or both, at a U.S. institution. Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a faculty member or researcher
- hold a Ph.D. degree with at least five years of relevant teaching, research, or professional experience OR
- hold a master's degree with recognised professional standing and at least five years of relevant experience
- follow the employer endorsement instructions, if currently employed
What are the benefits ?
Selected fellows will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including:
- A monthly stipend
- J-1 visa support
- Accident and sickness insurance as outlined by U.S. Government guidelines for exchange programs
- Round-trip economy airfare
- Settling-in allowance
- Professional development allowance
Note:- Dependent allowances and international travel may be provided, subject to funding availability, for one eligible accompanying dependent who resides with the grantee in the U.S. for at least 80% of the fellowship period.
How can you apply ?
Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship by following the steps mentioned below:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note - If already registered, log in using the registered email Id.)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'How to Apply' section and click on the first link.
Step 4: For first-time users, click on the 'Create an Account' link, whereas registered users click on Login.
Step 5: To register for an account, enter an email address, first and last name, and date of birth and click on 'Continue'.
Step 6: Enter the pin received through email to activate the account and create a password to complete the process.
Step 7: After successfully creating the account, fill in the required information and upload the necessary documents in PDF format as required. (Note- Applicants who already have an account can log in using valid credentials)
Step 9: Fill in the FKAPE Applicant Annexure and FKAPE Letter of Support from Home Institute, and submit the form.

What are the selection criteria ?
Selection of fellows is based on their fulfillment of the eligibility criteria. Following selection, fellows will be affiliated with a single U.S. host institution.
As proof of affiliation, applicants must include a letter of invitation from a U.S. institution in their online application. This letter should also specify the intended duration of the visit.

Terms and Conditions
- Applicants must upload their Ph.D. or master's degree certificate (or provisional Ph.D. certificate) through the online application portal.
- Applicants are required to upload a recent significant publication (e.g., copy of a paper or article) to the online application. The publication should not exceed 30 pages.
- Employed candidates must obtain endorsement from their home institution's appropriate administrative authority on the Letter of Support. This endorsement should confirm that leave will be granted for the fellowship period.
- Candidates working on government-funded projects in India also require an endorsement from their affiliated institutions.
- Any plagiarism detected in the application will result in disqualification.
- Extensions and transfers of visa sponsorship are not permitted.
- Applicants should be aware that their ability to travel to the United States and participate in academic programs may be impacted by various factors. These include public health conditions, availability of consular services and travel options, and the operational status and regulations of institutions within the country.
