Future Research Talent Awards - India 2025-26 is a joint initiative of the ANU College of Science and Medicine, ANU College of Systems and Society and ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy. The scholarship aims to offer a valuable opportunity to India's talented researchers to form international linkage in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Medical research fields. The selected candidates will receive AUD 8,500.

This scholarship is a joint initiative of the ANU College of Science and Medicine, ANU College of Systems and Society and ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy.
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a citizen of India residing in India
- be able to demonstrate a high level of academic ability and research potential
- be enrolled in a program at a collaborating institution in India which includes a research component
- be nominated for award consideration by a collaborating Indian institution specified by the ANU College of Science and Medicine, ANU College of Systems and Society, and ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy
- be seeking to undertake a research project in one of the specific fields of research proposed by the ANU College of Science and Medicine, ANU College of Systems and Society, and ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy
- not have previously received this award
What are the benefits ?
The selected candidates will receive an award of AUD 8,500 for a period of 10-12 weeks.
This can be utilised towards support for collaborative research, return airfare, visa, travel insurance, medical expenses, accommodation, and living expenses.

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the steps mentioned below -

What are the selection criteria ?
Collaborating institutions will nominate a selected number of students for the final selection to ANU. The selection will be based on the following factors:
- Academic merit and applicant's research experience,
- Ranking of nominated candidates by the host ANU Research School within the ANU Colleges,
- Ranking of nominated candidates by the collaborating Indian institution.

Question: Can applicants apply for the award themselves?
Answer: Applicants cannot apply for this award by themselves. They must be nominated by their institution.
Question: Are visa costs provided?
Answer: The award can be utilised towards visa costs.
Question: Can students outside of the collaborating institutions be nominated?
Answer: Applications from students enrolled at institutions other than the selected partner institutions may be permitted at the discretion of the Dean of either of the three Colleges, at the request of a Research School Director under exceptional circumstances.
Terms and Conditions
- The time period for the award (10-12 weeks) can be expanded at the discretion of the ANU Research School and the Research group/department hosting the student.
- Funds awarded under the FRT program must be fully expended by the recipient within 12 months from the date on which the recipient was notified of their award.
- Any ongoing funding to support research experience/projects longer than 12 weeks will be at the discretion of the ANU Research School and the Research group/department hosting the student.
- The awarding of the FRT travel award is based on the information provided to the Colleges. A travel award may be withdrawn at any stage if incorrect, false or misleading information is provided or relevant information is withheld. This includes circumstances where the false information is unrelated to the assessment in awarding the FRT travel award.
