GIST International Global Intern Program 2025

GIST International Global Intern Program 2025 is an opportunity offered by the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology* for international undergraduate and master’s students. The program offers 8 weeks of valuable research opportunities to help students determine their careers at the institution. The selected candidates will receive a stipend and other benefits.

*Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, founded in 1993, has been ranked 4th in the Citations per Faculty in the QS World University Rankings 2025. It simultaneously holds the 1st rank in the country of Korea for 17 consecutive years.

Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) is offering this opportunity.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• be an international student
• be a senior undergraduate or master’s degree student
• have secured a GPA of 3.0 or above (on a 4.5 scale)
• have secured a TOEFL iBT score of 80 or its equivalent in an English language proficiency test

Note:- Students from English-speaking countries or English mediums can submit proof of this in place of proficiency test scores.

Selected fellows will receive:-

• a stipend for the internship tenure
• dormitory accommodations for the internship tenure
• half of round-trip airfare reimbursement to Korea
• Korean language and culture classes
• 8-week laboratory internship with completion certificate
• published research posters
• opportunities and networking with global interns and researchers

Note:- Students must submit the research work to receive the completion certificate and airfare reimbursement.

Step 5: Log in with valid credentials, complete the application form and submit.

Note:-

• When applying, applicants must choose at least two out of the available research laboratory options. Applications without two stated choices will be rejected.
• Applicants must abide by the GIST regulations and Korean law. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification from the program.

• Original transcript in English
• 2 Letters of recommendation
• Certificate of English proficiency (if applicable)
• Certificate stating medium is English (if applicable)

Candidates will be selected based on the submitted research plan and fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about confirmation by email within 10 days of selection.
