The Global Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowship 2025 is an opportunity provided by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN)* to professional journalists. The selected candidates will receive USD 2,500 and additional awards.
*The Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), which has 250 member organisations in 91 countries, acts as the international hub for investigative journalists worldwide. Its staff works in a dozen languages on a daily basis, providing watchdog reporters with the tools, technology, and training they need to expose abuses of power and a lack of accountability.
Who is offering this scholarship ?
The fellowship is being provided by the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN).
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian citizen
- be open to full-time print, online, television, video, radio, documentary and multimedia journalists in developing or transitioning countries
- have experience in investigative or data journalism (preferred but not compulsory)
- produce a story directly related to the fellowship or give a presentation based on the knowledge acquired during the initial fellowship conference
- have a working knowledge of the English language
What are the benefits ?
Selected fellows will receive:-
- An honorary plaque
- USD 2,500
- Round-trip airfare to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Hotel room for 4 nights
- Transport between Kuala Lumpur international airport and the conference hotel
- Breakfast and lunch on conference days
- Award ceremony dinner
- Conference registration fee
Note: The fellowship does not include a per diem, visa fees, or transport to and from the candidate's home country airport. This is a training conference, and fellows are expected to pay for these costs.

The winner will be decided by an international panel of judges, including investigative journalism specialists. The judges may choose more than one award to recognise excellent effort.
