    What is Max Weber Fellowships 2025?

    The Max Weber Fellowships 2025 is an opportunity provided by the European University Institute (EUI) to international students with a PhD degree. The selected students will receive a fellowship grant of EUR 2,500 (₹2,55,915 approx.) per month.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • have received a PhD within the past 5 years or have official approval to defend the thesis by 1 September of the fellowship start year
    • not be currently enrolled in or employed by the European University Institute (EUI) at the application deadline (Note: former EUI members can apply only after at least one year of full-time employment or fellowship elsewhere.)
    • demonstrate English proficiency at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)

    What are the benefits ?

    The selected candidates will receive:-

    • A basic fellowship grant of EUR 2,500 (₹2,55,915 approx.) per month
    • A household allowance of up to 310 EUR per month
    • Dependents' allowance of 210 EUR per month
    • 1,000 EUR a year for eligible research expenses
    • Travel reimbursement is 1,200 EUR
    • Visa and residence requirements

    Terms and Conditions

    • Fellows are required to live in the area of Florence for the duration of their Fellowship.
    • All Fellowships run from September to August.
    • Fellowships are granted as follows:
      • Department of Law: 12 months for every applicant.
      • Department of Economics, Department of History, Department of Political and Social Sciences, and the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies: 12 or 24 months, depending on the applicant.
      • Florence School of Transnational Governance: 24 months for all applicants.
    • Candidates in relevant fields must specify whether they prefer a 12- or 24-month fellowship in their application; however, the EUI ultimately decides the final duration, which will be communicated in the award letter. Fellowship support may be extended to 36 months only under exceptional circumstances.
