    What is Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, West Bengal 2024-25?

    Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, West Bengal 2024-25 is an initiative of the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation, under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal to financially help the minority students of Class 11 to the postgraduate level. The selected candidates will receive up to ₹8,000 per month.

    West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation, under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal is offering this scholarship.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • be an Indian national
    • be a domicile of West Bengal
    • be studying in Class 11 to postgraduate level at an institution located in West Bengal
    • belong to the minority community (Buddhist, Christian, Jain Muslim, Parsee & Sikh) of West Bengal

    For undergraduate level scholarship, candidates must:-

    • have secured 60% marks in aggregate in the last qualifying examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level OR 
    • have secured 60% marks in aggregate in diploma courses from Institutes approved by AICTE and affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD (in 2nd year Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy courses through lateral entry) or affiliated by State Medical Faculty (in 2nd year Pharmacy course through lateral entry) OR 

    For postgraduate level scholarship candidates must:-

    • have secured 53% marks in aggregate in graduation (honours subject) from any state university (General Education) OR
    • have 55% marks in graduate courses from any state university or AICTE-approved Institute of West Bengal (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy) 
    • have an annual income of not more than ₹2,50,000

    What are the benefits ?

    The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:-

    UG (Science) At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,500
    UG (Other Professional courses, UGC approved) At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,500
    PG (Arts) At least 53% marks in the last qualifying exam 2,000
    PG (Commerce) At least 53% marks for SVMCM in the last qualifying exam 2,000
    PG (Science) At least 53% marks for SVMCM in the last qualifying exam 2,500
    PG (Other Professional courses, UGC approved) At least 53% marks in the last qualifying exam 2,500
    Non-NET M.Phil./Non NET Ph.D. Date of Enrolment/Date of Registration not before 1st April 2017 5,000 to 8,000 Respectively
    HS At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,000
    D.El.Ed At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,000
    UG (ENGG.), PG (ENGG.) and Other Professional courses (AICTE approved)

    UG: 1. 60% 2. 60% in Diploma Course from WBSCT&VE&SD for lateral entry scheme.

    PG: 55% in Graduation from any state university/AICTE-approved institute in West Bengal

    Follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the scholarship:-

    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below and read all the details.
    Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to register. (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
    Step 3: Tick in the 'Agree to the instructions' check box and click on the 'Proceed for Registration' tab.
    Step 4: Under the 'Directorate of School Education (DSE)' section, click on the 'Apply for Fresh Applications' tab.
    Step 5: Fill in the required details under the 'Registration for Scholarship' section and click on the 'Register' tab.
    Step 6: After successful registration, log in using the registered user ID and password.
    Step 7: Fill in the application form, upload the relevant documents and submit.

    Note;- Submit the hard copy of the application form with the photocopies of the bank passbook to the concerned institute.

    What are the documents required for the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, West Bengal 2024-25?

    • Marksheet of the last academic examination
    • Family income certificate 
    • First page of the bank passbook
    • Institute verification form duly authenticated by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed format

    What are the selection criteria ?

    The selection of the candidates will be based on their academic merit and financial need. 

    What are the important dates ?

    Terms and Conditions

    • Students having AADHAAR linked bank account will get preference in directly crediting scholarship amount.
    • One registration will be allowed with one ACTIVE BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER. (One registration will be allowed with one mobile number.)
    • Bank Account details (A/c Number, IFSC Code) submitted are correct and keep the account active (i.e. non-dormant) and functional to receive scholarship amount (i.e. Any condition imposed on accounts by bank, any limit on receiving credit in accounts etc., which may hamper scholarship credit in account should be complied with).
    • The scholarship will be awarded only upon the successful verification of information and relevant documents.
    • Students continuing their studies in institutes outside West Bengal and distance education applicants are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
    • For students pursuing UG courses, a separate merit list will be prepared for the Arts, Commerce, and Science stream. 
    • The scholarship amount will be directly transferred to the student's accounts. 
    • A student is eligible for a scholarship from any one government source only.
    • Unique ID of Bangla Shikhsha ID is Mandatory for school-level students
