    What is The Sonny and Gita Mehta Scholarship for Writers 2024?

    The Sonny and Gita Mehta Scholarship for Writers 2024 is an opportunity offered by the University of East Anglia (UEA) to support aspiring writers from the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and North Africa to enable them to undertake study in the Department of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing in UEA. The selected candidates will receive £ 28,500 towards tuition and maintenance fees.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant:

    • be born, a citizen, and currently residing in a country from the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, or North Africa (Note: Roma ethnicity is also considered.)
    • be a talented writer
    • hold an offer to study a postgraduate taught course at the University of East Anglia
    • demonstrate outstanding creative writing potential

     

    Note: Applicants must not receive any other awards or scholarships.

    The selected candidates will receive £ 28,500 towards tuition and maintenance fees.

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the steps mentioned below -

    Terms and Conditions

    • Upon successful application, the candidate will be registered and enrolled as a full-time or part-time postgraduate student. This enrollment will be for a credit-bearing postgraduate program offered by the University and will adhere to the Degree Regulations outlined in the University Calendar.
    • The student will be required to comply with the University's Charter, Statutes, Ordinances, Regulations, and Policies in effect at the time of enrollment.
    • The Scholarship scheme's duration and availability are entirely at the university's discretion. They may withdraw it at any time without prior notice.
    • These scholarships are tuition fee discounts which will be directly applied to the student's account. No alternative/equivalent monetary payment will be made.
