As shown in the table above, the only visa which allows a long duration stay plus a work permit afterwards is the Visa de long sjour etudes.
Students who are applying to a university that requires them to take an admission test should be aware of the need to apply for an Etudient Concours (visa for sitting entrance exams), which will allow them to sit for the exam. Post Study Work Permit France Work Permit Fees
The Visa de long sjour etudes or long-stay visa for France costs EUR 50 for students applying for Bachelors/Masters/Research Courses. The cost remains the same even if you are applying for a dual course or are part of a student exchange program.
Along with this base fee, you will also have to provide a visa processing fee which costs EUR 50 more, along with the VFS service fees which amount to INR 1,467 (taxes included). The following is a list of documents you are required to provide along with two sets of application photocopies.
- Long stay application form for a duration longer than 90 days
- Two passport size photographs
- A copy of your passport
- A print-out of your Campus France ID number
- Letter of registration from the academic institution
- Cover letter explaining the study project and a CV/Resume
- Proof of funds tuition fees + 615 Euros/month that comprise the complete academic term
- Proof of valid medical coverage/insurance in France
- A round-trip plane ticket (for courses that last 6 months or less)
- A one-way plane ticket (for courses that last more than 6 months)
- OFII form (Office Franais de Immigration et de Integration)
- Proof of residency in France (lease, utility bill or hotel booking receipt)

Post study work permit – Other Permit for Students graduating with a Masters or higher degree from France
For students who have completed their degrees at the Masters or PhD level, there is a provision that allows them to apply for a residence extension permit called APS (Authorization Provisoire de sjour) that increases the duration of their stay for a period of 24 months. This extension is non-renewable and only allows the student to work for 60 hours a week and can only be converted into a work permit if you get an offer from a company in the country that offers you more than 1.5 times the minimum wage.
