Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (Science) 2026-27

The Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (Science) 2026-27 is an opportunity offered by the Universiteit van Amsterdam to students having applied for a Master’s programme. This scholarship aims to attract and support the education of bright and enthusiastic students from all over the world. The selected candidates shall receive a scholarship of €24,875. 

The Universiteit van Amsterdam is offering this opportunity.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• not have the nationality of one of the countries of the EU/EEA or Switzerland.
• not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans 
• not be eligible to pay the reduced tuition fee rate applicable to EEA students at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
• not receive a full coverage scholarship for the same study period as the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship (AMS).
• have submitted a complete application to one of the MSc programmes at the UvA (refer to the specific MSc programme website for application and admission details).
• have been (or will be) admitted for the first time to one of the MSc programmes at the UvA
• be able to meet the conditions required to obtain a Dutch visa, if applicable.
• have completed the previous academic programme no longer than three years ago.
• have sufficient funds to cover all other study and living expenses.
• belong to the top 10% of graduates from their class, generally demonstrated by an overall GPA equivalent to:
  • 3.5 (American system, 4-point scale)
  • First class honours / upper division (British system)
  • 8+ (Dutch EC-system, 10-point scale)

The selected candidates shall receive a scholarship of €24,875.
