Chevening Scholarships 2025-26 is an opportunity provided by the Government of the United Kingdom in collaboration with the UK Universities to provide financial assistance to Indian students with outstanding leadership and influencing skills who wish to pursue a one-year master's degree in any subject at any UK university. Selected candidates will receive a fully-funded scholarship for a year for the course and other benefits.

Who is offering this scholarship ?
The Government of the UK in collaboration with the UK Universities is offering this opportunity.
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory, including India
- hold an undergraduate degree that enables entry into a postgraduate program at a UK university before applying (Note:- This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK but can vary depending on the course and university choice.)
- have at least two years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 hours)
- return to India for a minimum of two years after the scholarship ends
Note:- Applicants who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship.
What are the benefits ?
Selected candidates will receive the following benefits:-
- University course tuition fees
- A monthly stipend
- Travel costs to and from the UK
- An arrival allowance
- A homeward departure allowance
- The cost of one visa application
- A travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK
How can you apply ?
Eligible candidates can follow these steps to apply:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Your Country/Territory' option at the bottom of the page and choose 'India', then under the 'Select Your Awards' section, choose 'Scholarship', and click on the 'Search' button.
Step 4: Navigate to the 'Apply Today' button.
Step 5: Select India from the list of countries, then select 'Chevening Scholarship 2025-2026' and click 'Continue'.
Step 6: Fill in the required information to register and click 'Continue'. A verification mail will be sent to the provided email adress.
Step 7: Open the 'Application Portal' and take the eligibility test to get an email for the access code.
Step 8: Enter the valid access code to receive a mail with the application link on the portal.
Step 9: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit the application.
What are the documents required for the Chevening Scholarships 2025-26?
- A valid passport/National ID card
- University transcripts and degrees (undergraduate, postgraduate)
- An unconditional offer letter from a UK university
- Names of two referees who know the applicant in a professional or academic capacity
- English language test score
What are the selection criteria ?
The applicants will be shortlisted for interview by the British embassies and high commissions.
What are the important dates ?
Application Start Date: 6th August 2024
Application Deadline: 5th November 2024
Interview Date: 26th February - April 25th 2025
Offer Letter Deadline: 11th July 2025 (17:00 BST UK time)
Scholarship Begins: September/October 2025
Terms and Conditions
- The reference must be written in English.
- All applicants need to register as new users, regardless of whether they have applied previously.
- Once submitted, applications cannot be edited. Therefore, applicants are advised to fill out the form carefully.
- Applications found ineligible for the scholarship will be removed from the selection process.
- Interviews will be conducted in a city/town where the British Embassy or High Commission has representation.
- Skype interviews are permitted in exceptional cases.
- Work experience includes full-time or part-time employment, paid or unpaid internships, and voluntary work. However, mandatory internships or work placements integrated into a degree program do not count.
- Candidates will not be eligible for the scholarship if they:
- Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless they are citizens of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) status and are applying from Hong Kong).
- Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening-eligible country.
- Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK government-funded scholarship.
- Are you an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of Her Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications.
- This includes employees of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, all British Embassies/High Commissions, the Home Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department for International Trade, and UKVI, as well as the British Council, a sponsoring UK university, or staff members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
- Candidates with a master's degree can apply for a second master's if they can demonstrate how it will further their career goals and positively impact their home country.
Note:- Relatives are defined as parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouse, civil partner or unmarried partner (where the couple has been in a relationship akin to marriage or civil partnership for at least two years).
