Google PhD Fellowship India Program 2025

Google PhD Fellowship India Program 2025 is an opportunity offered by Google to support promising Ph.D. candidates of all backgrounds who seek to influence the future of technology. The program was created to recognise outstanding graduate students doing exceptional and innovative research in areas relevant to computer science and related fields. The selected fellows will receive up to USD 50,000 (approximately ₹43,40,296) to cover stipends and other research-related activities, travel expenses including overseas travel for a 4-year fellowship and Google research mentor.

To be eligible, an applicant must: 

• be enrolled full-time in the Ph.D. program
• have obtained an undergraduate/master's degree from an Indian university
• be a professional who is employed with a registered organisation in India

Non-eligibility: 

• Google employees, and their spouses, children, and members of their households.
• Students that are already supported by a comparable industry award (Government or non-profit organization funding is exempt).
• Past awardees from the Ph.D. Fellowship program.

The selected candidates will receive a fellowship in the following ways:

For early-stage Ph.D. students

• Up to 4-year fellowship
• USD 50,000 (approximatley ₹43,40,296) to cover stipend and other research related activities, and travel expenses (including overseas travel)
• Google research mentor

For late-stage Ph.D. students

• 1 year fellowship
• USD 10,000 (approximatley ₹8,68,121) to recognise research contributions, cover stipend and other research related activities, and travel expenses (including overseas travel)
• Google research mentor

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 3: Navigate to the 'Registration' tab.
Step 4: Fill in the required details and upload the relevant documents.
Step 5: Submit the online application form.

• Applicant's resume with links to publications (if available)
• Available transcripts (marksheets) starting from the first year/semester of bachelor's degree till date
• Research statement of purpose (maximum of 3 pages, excluding expenses)
• Three letters of recommendation from those familiar with the applicant's work (at least one coming from the thesis advisor in case of current Ph.D. students)
• Student essay (350-word limit) response on the topic 'What impact would receiving this Fellowship have on your education? Describe any circumstances affecting your need for a Fellowship and what educational goals this Fellowship will enable you to accomplish.' 

The selection will be based on the fulfilment of the eligible criteria.
