Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Scholarship for International Students 2024 is an opportunity offered by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Foundation to students with graduate degrees from various countries to study at one of the over 400 universities in Germany. This scholarship program aims to support students financially and facilitates intercultural dialogue and international networks through access to the KAS network. S
Selected students will receive a monthly scholarship of €1,400 (approx. ₹1,27,141.71) along with other benefits to support their academic journey.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Foundation is offering this opportunity.
Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be citizens of a country eligible for KAS funding including India
- have a bachelor's or equivalent degree from a recognised university/institution with a strong academic record
- be enrolled in a postgraduate or master's program, doctoral program, or research fellowship of at least three semesters at a university in Germany
- have at least B-2 level proficiency in the German language
- be actively engaged in volunteer work
- plan a minimum of 4 semesters of study in Germany
- possess a broad general education and a strong interest in politics
- have a positive attitude towards human rights
- have tolerance, motivation, and the ability to articulate the goals
Note:-
- This scholarship is not open to individuals who already hold a doctorate.
- Applications from students in Medicine or Pharmacy programs will only be considered after they have completed their intermediate exam in Germany or an equivalent qualification.
- Human or dental medicine specialist training and postgraduate research stays in Germany are not eligible for this scholarship program.
What are the benefits ?
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarship program offers financial support to cover your living expenses in Germany while the applicants' pursue their studies:-
- Master's and postgraduate students will receive €934 (approx. ₹84,832.42) per month, while Ph.D. students receive €1,400 (approx. ₹1,27,155) per month for up to 2 years for master's/postgraduate and 3 years for Ph.D. degree.
- Healthcare subsidy of up to €120 (approx. ₹10,899.24) per month to help with health insurance costs.
- A family allowance of €276 (approx. ₹25,066.87) can be provided under the condition the applicant and their spouse live together in one location for at least 3 months and the spouse’s monthly salary does not exceed €450 (approx ₹40,867.83).
- A children's allowance of €194 (approx. ₹17,619.66) per month can be provided under the condition an official German translation of the child’s birth certificate and the official rejection of the demand for public child allowance are submitted.
- Fees for university courses in Germany that are directly relevant to the applicant’s studies can be refunded up to €1,500 (approx. ₹1,36,234.76) every semester. However, ordinary semester costs for enrollment or annual re-registration cannot be refunded.
Note:- Ph.D. applicants can apply for financial assistance for research stays abroad.

If an Indian national is already living or studying in Germany, they can apply for a scholarship through the domestic selection program using the online application process. Students can follow the below instructions to apply online:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.)
Step 3: Navigate to the ‘Contact for applicants’ section at the bottom of the page and click on the Campus KAS Portal link given above it.
Step 4: Now, click on the given Registration link at the bottom of the page.
Step 5: Read the details carefully and select the appropriate option.
Step 6: Fill in the information, upload the necessary documents, and submit.
What are the documents required for the KAS Scholarship Program for International Students, Germany 2024?
- Motivation letter
- Copy of exam certificates translated in German
- Copy of study performance records (if formerly studying in Germany)
- Proof of German language skills (B-2)
- A meaningful Curriculum Vitae (CV) in tabular format including details of previous voluntary work/social activities
- Certificate of admission or matriculation from the applicant’s German university
- An informal academic letter of recommendation
- An informal letter of recommendation highlighting the applicant’s personality
- Applicants applying for Ph.D. has to add the following documents:-
- A detailed description of doctoral thesis written by the applicant in German/English (5-10 pages; font size 12; 1.5 line spacing)
- A second academic letter of recommendation, replacing the letter of recommendation concerning the applicant’s personality
- A confirmation of supervision by the applicant’s doctor-father or mother
Note:-
- The informal academic letter of recommendation should be from a university professor/teacher holding a doctoral degree, mentioning the applicant’s educational qualifications and potential. It must not be older than two months.
- The informal letter of recommendation should be focusing on the applicant’s personality and interests as well as on their understanding of values and social commitment. The author must be different from the academic letter of recommendation.
- The detailed description of the doctoral thesis should outline the central research question of the proposed project, its scientific relevance, the applicant’s theoretical approach and the motives behind the choice of the research subject. It should also contain a work, a schedule, and a bibliography.
- The second academic letter of recommendation should be written by the supervisor of the doctoral thesis.
What are the selection criteria ?
The candidates for the scholarship award will be selected based on academic merit and recommendation letters. Fitting applicants will be invited to an interview to further determine their suitability.
