Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship 2025

The Maastricht University (UM) NL-High Potential Scholarship 2025  is an opportunity provided by the Maastricht University and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science to postgraduate applicants at the university. This scholarship supports the education of highly talented students. The selected candidates shall receive tuition fees, living expenses of up to €30,625 and other benefits.

The Maastricht University and the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science are offering this opportunity. 

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland, or Surinam
• meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands
• not possess dual nationality from an EU/EEA country or Switzerland
• have applied for admission to the full-time master's programme at Maastricht University for the academic year 2026-2027
• meet the specific admission requirements of the UM master’s programme applied for
• not have previously participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme in the Netherlands (Note:- students who have completed exchange programmes in the Netherlands are eligible to apply.) 
• be no older than 35 years of age on 1 September 2026
• have achieved excellent academic results in prior education, demonstrated by a latest grade transcript showing a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher
• agree to actively serve as a UM NL High Potential and UM ambassador during and after studies by sharing experiences in at least one information session for students and/or other stakeholders

The selected scholars shall receive:   

• Tuition fees
• Living expenses - € 1,225 per month covers the following expenses
  • Housing: € 600
  • Groceries and personal hygiene: € 160
  • Telephone: € 60
  • Travel: € 100
  • Books and study materials: € 90
  • Clothing, hobbies and going out: € 125
  • Miscellaneous: € 90
• Health and liability insurance
• Cost of visa application
• Pre-academic training expenses
• International Student Ambassador Programme (ISAP) cost
• Accommodation

• The scholarship provides selected candidates with a room for accommodation that must be accepted. Rejection of the room shall result in scholarship cancellation.
