    What is Max Planck Institute Postdoctoral and Researcher Fellowship 2026-27?

    Max Planck Institute Postdoctoral and Researcher Fellowships are offered by the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science. The fellowships are prestigious stipend awards designed to support PhD scholars and researchers from all over the world to contribute to one of the Institute's departments or research groups. Selected students will receive stipends of up to €3,200.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • holds a PhD degree with full postdoctoral status 
    • be based outside Germany or currently working at a non-German university or research institution 
    • be able to commit to the fellowship period (typically 3-6 months) full-time
    • have their main place of residence outside Germany
    • have a research project closely connected with the thematic focal points of the chosen department or research group

    Note: 

    • Applicants from outside Germany or currently affiliated with a non-German university or research institution are also eligible to apply.
    • The stipend cannot be paid if the fellow receives any other non-negligible income during the fellowship period.
       

    What are the benefits ?

    The selected fellows will receive:

    • Postdoctoral Fellows: €2,500 (approx. ₹2,65,352.50) per month (€2,700 per month for fellowships starting on 01 January 2026 or later)
    • Research Fellows: €3,000 (approx. ₹3,18,423.00) per month (€3,200 per month for fellowships starting on 01 January 2026 or later)
    • Health insurance: subsidy of 50% of monthly fees up to €100 (approx. ₹10,614.10)
