MoSPI Postgraduate/Research Students Internship 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) to students pursuing postgraduate/research degrees in statistics. The main objective of this scheme is to create awareness amongst the students about the Indian Statistical Service and Subordinate Statistical Service. A total of 282 selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for a duration of two months.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a citizen of India
- be pursuing a postgraduation/research degree from a recognised college, university or institute
- be studying in specific fields such as Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, Demography or any of the applied fields of statistics
What are the benefits ?
The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:
- A monthly stipend of ₹5,000 for a duration of two months.
- A certificate of completion by the respective selection points
only through electronic mode of funds transfer/ Aadhaar Payments Bridge (APB)/Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS). - Students opting for NSSO (FOD) Zonal/Regional Offices will be paid an additional amount of ₹250 per day to enable them to undertake field visits if required, which should not exceed a maximum of 10 days in the entire period of 2 months of internship
Note:-
- The Head of the respective Zonal/Regional Office will determine the need for field visits and, if necessary, assign them to nearby locations.
- Selected interns will report to the office where their internship is offered. Please note that the Ministry does not provide travel or daily allowances for joining or completing the internship. Interns are responsible for their lodging, boarding, and transportation.
How can you apply ?
Eligible candidates can apply for the internship by following the steps mentioned below:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.)
Step 3: Navigate the 'Register' button on the top right-hand side of the page.
Step 4: Select thr relevant option from the drop-down menu and fill in the required details to register.
Step 5: After successful registration, log in valid credentails and download the application format in the MS Excel file by clicking on the 'Group A' or 'Group B' option.
Step 6: Fill in the application form and download it.
Step 7: Send the documents to the concerned nodal offices/selection point given at Annex-I & Annex-II with a copy to: training-mospi@nic.in with the subject line “Application
for Internship for Post-Graduate/Research Students – 2024-25".
Note:-
- For details on concerned nodal offices/selection points, kindly refer to the 'Internship Detail Document.'
- The application would be rejected in the absence of a filled-in MS Excel File with the application form.
What are the documents required for the MoSPI Postgraduate/Research Students Internship 2024-25?
- Duly filled-in and signed/attested application form
- Duly Filled-in MS Excel file of the application form
- Marksheet of graduation consisting of 3 years' results/marks
- Self-attested copy of an Identity card issued during the postgraduate course/research program
- Any other official document demonstrating the current status as a postgraduate or research student in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Demography, or an applied field of Statistics
- Document giving conversion formula from CGPA to
percentage (if applicable) - A No objection certificate attested by the Head of Institution where the applicant is pursuing study
What are the selection criteria ?
Candidate selection will be based solely on their graduation marks excluding qualifying subjects. Internship office allocation will consider both selection criteria and the candidate's preferred location.
The selection process will be handled by the MoSPI Training Unit: Group "A" internships, Regional Heads of NSSO (FOD) ROs: ROs, ZOs, DESs, and other internship centers within their respective cities and Data Processing Division (DPD): All internship centers in Kolkata.
In state capitals with multiple offices, a selection committee will be formed. This committee includes representatives from all participating offices. The Head of the NSSO (FOD) Regional Office or the DDG (DPD), Kolkata, chairs the committee depending on the location. The list of selected candidates will be prepared at every selection point separately.

Terms and Conditions
- Selected interns will have to report to the office where their internship is offered.
- The availability of internship slots indicated in Annex - I & II is tentative and may increase/decrease or relocate with the approval of the competent authority.
- No enquiries will be entertained by offices other than designated offices and officers for receipt of applications/selection of candidates etc.
