NSP Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students 2024-25 is an initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India for SC students pursuing or admitted to undergraduate or postgraduate studies in any discipline. The scheme recognises and promotes quality education beyond Class 12 among Scheduled Caste (SC) students. Selected candidates will receive an academic allowance of ₹86,000 in the first year of study & ₹41,000 in every subsequent year to cover other expenses.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category
- have passed the Class 12 examination with a minimum of 60% marks
- have secured admission to a recognised college or university in India to pursue a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate degree
- have an annual income of less than ₹8,00,000 from all sources
What are the benefits ?
SC students securing admission to notified institutions will be awarded a scholarship to cover the following:-
- Full tuition fee and non-refundable charges: A ceiling of ₹2,00,000 per annum per student applies to private sector institutions.
- Academic allowance:
- First year: ₹86,000
- Subsequent years: ₹1,00,000 per year
This allowance helps with living expenses, books & stationery, and a computer/laptop (reputable brand) with essential accessories like a UPS and printer.
Note:-
- The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will fund the scheme.
- The scholarship becomes payable immediately after the student secures admission and commences classes.
- The Central Government will directly disburse the tuition fee, non-refundable charges, and academic allowance to students via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Students are responsible for promptly depositing the fees to their institute within a month of receiving the payment.
How can you apply ?
Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.
Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.
What are the documents required for the NSP Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students 2024-25?
- Caste certificate
- Income certificate (issued by a revenue officer, not below the rank of a Tehsildar)
- Bank account details of the institution and the student
- Proof of admission
- Scorecard of entrance exam qualified (if applicable)
- Class 12 marksheets
- The fee structure of the program
What are the selection criteria ?
The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship will be sanctioned to the students of:
- All the IIMs, IITs, IIITs, AIIMS, NITs, NIFTs, NIDs, Indian Institute of Hotel Management, National Law Universities, and other Central Government Institution, OR
- Institutes included in the list of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) A++ and A+ Accredited Institutions, OR
- Top 100 national Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Institution, Or
- Institutions of National Importance as per the list issued by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
- 30% of scholarships are marked for female students that can be transferred to male students in case of the non-availability of female students.
- The scholarship will be terminated if the student fails the final examination of each year, and will be resumed once the student passes and gets promoted to the next year.
- The scholarship will not be given to more than two children from a single family. The students must submit an affidavit to the Institution to certify that they are not the third sibling of the family who is availing benefits under the scheme.
