    What is Postdoctoral Fellowships and Bursaries, University of Edinburgh 2021-22, UK?

    The Institute for Advanced Studies in Humanities (IASH), University of Edinburgh invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships and Bursaries 2021-22 from postdoctoral aspirants in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. IASH takes the humanities beyond campus to engage the public and work with organizations in a variety of different sectors. The selected fellows will receive a bursary of up to GBP 13,000.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must -

    • Be a PhD degree holder (must have been awarded his/her Doctorate at the time of application) normally within the last three years
    • Be interested in pursuing postdoctoral studies in any area of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

    Note: The applicants should not have held a permanent position or a previous fellowship at IASH. Although, those who have held short-term or temporary appointments can apply.

    • Opportunities to participate in design funded workshops, colloquia, etc. at the Institute

    Terms and Conditions

    • Applicants do not need to teach but they may be able to supplement the bursary by individually arranging their own concurrent teaching.
    • Applicants are asked to indicate other sources of support for which they have applied and the expected date of the outcome.
    • Candidates must give evidence of any contact they have made with the researchers at the University of Edinburgh before submitting the application.
    • It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that all documentation is complete and that referees submit their reports to IASH by the closing date.
    • Candidates should submit a copy of anyone publication that they think is relevant to the research proposal and Fellowship submission. 
    • Referees should comment on the nature and quality of the research proposal, as well as on the qualifications of the applicant. One referee should certify the successful viva and final examination of the candidate’s PhD thesis.
    • A minimum of two and a maximum of three confidential references are required.
