    What is Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme 2024?

    Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme 2024 is an initiative of the Government of Rajasthan, for students planning to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and post-doctoral research programs abroad. Formerly known as the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence, this scheme aims to provide scholarships to residents of Rajasthan pursuing higher studies in any subject/course at a top-ranked university/institution. This includes the top 150 universities globally according to the latest QS World Rankings and the top 50 institutions in India. Selected students will receive full tuition fees, including bench fees (if applicable), and a stipend for living expenses.

    Who is offering this scholarship ?

    The Government of Rajasthan is offering this scholarship.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • be a citizen of India
    • be a resident of Rajasthan
    • be less than 35 years of age as of 1st July of the financial year related to scholarship allocation
    • be enrolled in an undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. or postdoctoral degree 
    • have received an offer letter/confirmation letter/admission letter from any of the universities/institutions listed in the latest QS Global Rankings or ranked within the top 1-50 overall in NIRF institutions
    • meet the following annual income criteria:
      • Less than ₹8,00,000 (E1 category)
      • Between ₹8,00,000 and INR 25,00,000 (E2 category)
      • More than ₹25,00,000 (E3 category)

    Note:-  

    • E1, E2, and E3 define distinct income brackets that determine the level of financial assistance awarded.
    • Provisionally selected scholarship candidates must submit unconditional offer letters or admission letters within two months of their provisional selection. However, the scholarship eligibility will not be affected by financial details in the offer letter, such as fee payment requirements, other charges, or proof of funding.

    What are the benefits ?

    The financial assistance for the selected candidates will be provided as follows:

    Category  Tuition fees during the course duration (per annum, maximum)      Living expenses, including annual maintenance allowance, annual incidental and equipment allowance, medical insurance premium, accommodation, TCS (if applicable), visa fees, airfare (economy class) for travel abroad and return to India, a laptop, and advance payment for other one-time expenses, will be covered for the duration of the course
    E1 ₹50,00,000

    Students who are accepted to study abroad after the application deadline on the portal will be entitled to the following benefits in the first year of the scheme:

    • Living expenses of ₹75,000 per month
    • A one-time upfront payment of ₹3,00,000 will be provided in the first year of studying abroad.

    For the remaining years of the course below benefits will be given:

    • For living expenses, each month, students who are enrolled in the scheme before the application date will receive ₹1,00,000 and it will be provided during the upcoming course duration 
    • No payment will be due for the course duration prior to the application date.
    • For studying in the country, students will receive ₹25,000 per month to cover living expenses i.e. ₹3,00,000 per annum
    E2 ₹50,00,000 Living expenses of ₹50,000 per month will be given during the course duration
    E3 ₹50,00,000 N/A

    Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the below-mentioned steps:-

    Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
    Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID.)
    Step 3: Navigate to the 'Apply Now' button and click on it.
    Step 4: Navigate to the 'Registration' section on the right-hand side.
    Step 5: Click on 'Jan Aadhaar' or 'Google' to 'Register'.
    Step 6: Fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

    What are the documents required for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for Academic Excellence Scheme 2024?

    • Jan Aadhaar Number (if applicable)
    • Passport (if applicable)
    • Visa (if applicable)
    • Offer letter from the relevant foreign university
    • Domicile certificate (shortened "Bonafide/domicile certificate")
    • Gross family income certificate (authenticated by an executive magistrate and witnessed by two gazetted officers)
    • Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for the financial year 2023-24 (applicable for applications submitted in the financial year 2024-25)
    • Affidavit for not filing ITR (in the provided format)
    • Marksheet/certificate of the last passed examination
    • Self-declaration for scholarships/financial aid received from other sources (if applicable)

    What are the selection criteria ?

    The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of eligibility criteria and applications submitted.

    Terms and Conditions

    • A total of 200 scholarships are available each year.
    • Only 22 seats are reserved for B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., MBBS, and BDS courses.
    • Providing false or misleading information or documents will result in disqualification. 
    • Mandatory participation in online activities may be required. 
    • Students are responsible for adhering to all program guidelines and the indemnity bond.
    • If the selection of 200-300 applicants for the relevant financial year is completed, the remaining applications will be considered cancelled.
    • The dates specified for evaluation for selection in the relevant financial year will be published on the department's website and in newspapers.
    • Applications received prior to the dates specified for evaluation by the Administrative Department will be evaluated in that phase. Selection for scholarship awards in the upcoming phase will be done only if seats remain vacant for the relevant financial year.
