    What is Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program 2024?

    Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program 2024 is an opportunity offered by the University of Sydney to Indian students who have applied for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the university. The main objective of this scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to students and foster the connection between the university and India through investment in research, collaboration with industry partners, and deepening the commitment to student education, helping them achieve their full potential. A total of 28 annual scholarships of up to $40,000 will be offered to selected meritorious students to support and encourage their academic journey.

    The University of Sydney, Australia is offering this scholarship.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    To be eligible, an applicant must:-

    • have citizenship in India
    • be a current resident of India
    • be an international student as defined by the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Note:- This excludes Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents.)
    • have applied to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework program at the University of Sydney, but have not yet commenced their studies

     

    Note:- 

    • Australian citizens and residents are not eligible for this scholarship.
    • Students who have previously received a University of Sydney India Scholarship are not eligible.
    • Applicants starting a second degree at the University of Sydney are eligible to apply if they have not previously received the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship.

    What are the benefits ?

    Selected candidates will receive the following benefits:-

    • 3 annual scholarships worth $40,000 for any undergraduate degree of up to four year
    • 10 first-year annual scholarships worth  $20,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate students
    • 15 first-year annual scholarships worth $10,000 for undergraduate and postgraduate students

     

    Note:-

    • For the three $40,000 scholarships, 50% of the annual amount will be credited to the candidate’s fee account each semester.
    • For the other scholarships, the candidates will receive a cash payment following the census date of each semester.

    What are the documents required for the Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program 2024?

    • Proof of Indian residency such as a passport
    • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Documents related to previous academic results including marksheets, certificates, etc.

    What are the selection criteria ?

    The candidates for the scholarship award will be selected based on academic merit, personal statements, and the applicant's application to the University of Sydney for admission to a coursework undergraduate or graduate degree.

    The scholarship will be awarded based on the recommendations of a selection committee comprised of two academic and two non-academic nominees appointed by the Associate Vice-President Sydney Future Students.

    Terms and Conditions

    • Applicants must submit the ‘Acceptance of Unconditional Admission Offer’ form by the deadline for their scholarship offer round. Failure to do so will result in a withdrawal of the scholarship.
    • After receiving the award, the candidate must remain enrolled in the University of Sydney after the census date.
    • Candidates must maintain a minimum semester average mark (SAM) of 65 and have no unpaid fees in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
    • The scholarship cannot be suspended or deferred.
    • The scholarship awards are subject to availability of funds.
    • The scholarship can be used for a different faculty, major, or degree program within the University of Sydney, but cannot be transferred to another university.
    • Students who participated in an exchange program during their scholarship period must earn a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to be eligible for their next scholarship payment.
    • The University of Sydney will provide an opportunity for the scholarship recipients to speak about their studies and represent the University at student, marketing, and business networking events. All costs associated with these representative activities will be covered by the university.

     

    Termination:-

    • The scholarship is subject to termination if the applicant:-
      • abandons or fails to enroll in an eligible course
      • becomes a domestic student
      • begins part-time studies without first receiving permission from  the Director of International Relations at Sydney Future Students
      • fails to maintain satisfactory academic performance
      • is found to have engaged in substantial misconduct by the university, which may include, but is not limited to providing false or misleading information in their scholarship application
      • accepts another scholarship from the University of Sydney worth more than $10,000 annually and is supported either by the university or by a third party
      • does not resume their courses after a period of permitted leave
    • The university reserves the right to demand a reimbursement of any amounts awarded to the scholarship recipient in case of termination under the aforementioned circumstances.
