    What is The Einstein Fellowship 2021-22, Germany?

    The Einstein Forum and the Daimler and Benz Foundation invite applications for The Einstein Fellowship 2021-22, Germany from students of humanities, social sciences or natural sciences. The fellowship is for outstanding and thoughtful young individuals who wish to pursue a project in a field other than their previous research. The objective of the fellowship is to assist those who are open to various interdisciplinary approaches and additionally produce superb work in his/their area of specialization following the example of the inspiration of the scheme- Albert Einstein. The fellowship provides the opportunity of availing a stipend of EUR 10,000 and other benefits.

    The fellowship is being organized by the Einstein Forum and the Daimler and Benz Foundation.

    Who can apply for this scholarship ?

    The following applicants are eligible for the fellowship: 

    • The applicant must hold a university degree in any of the following areas: 
      • Humanities
      • Social sciences 
      • Natural sciences
    • The applicant must not be older than 35 years of age

    What are the benefits ?

    The selected fellows will receive the following benefits: 

    • A stipend of EUR 10,000
    • Living accommodation for 5-6 months in the garden cottage of Einstein's own summerhouse in Caputh, Brandenburg
    • Reimbursement of travel expenses

    How can you apply ?

    Follow the below steps to apply: 

    Step 1: Write a 2-page project proposal for the fellowship program. 
    Step 2: Generate an application mail.
    Step 3: Attach the required documents in the application mail.
    Step 4: Submit the application by sending the application mail along with all the attached documents at fellowship@einsteinforum.de.

    What are the documents required for the The Einstein Fellowship 2021-22, Germany?

    • A two-page project proposal
    • Two letters of recommendation

    What are the selection criteria ?

    Selected students will be based on the quality, originality, and feasibility of the project proposals, as well as on the applicant's academic career.

    Q. Can I propose two projects?
    A.
     The fellowship is awarded for just one project. As such, we recommend focusing on strengthening just one proposal.

    Q. Should I attach the letters of reference in my application, or should my recommenders send them separately?
    A. 
    We will accept both, but we recommend that your reference letters be emailed to us directly by their respective authors.

    Q. What may the grant be used for?
    A. The grant is intended to cover living expenses and project expenses incurred during your fellowship period.

    Terms and Conditions

    • The accommodation of the students is only a short distance from the universities and academic institutions of Potsdam and Berlin.
    • At the commencement of the fellowship, the fellow will be expected to create and present his/her project in a public lecture at the Einstein Forum and at the Daimler and Benz Foundation.
    • The Fellowship is not for applicants who wish to complete an academic study they have already begun.
    • A precise and efficient application must demonstrate the quality, originality and feasibility of the proposed project, as well as the exclusive intellectual development of the applicant in order to be successful.
    • It is not relevant if the applicant has begun working toward, or if he/she currently holds a PhD.
    • The proposed project by the applicant need not be fully completed during the term of the fellowship but can be the beginning of a lengthier project.
    • No fellowships will be allotted for dissertation research.
    • The proposed project by the applicant must be different in content and field and form preferably from the work done by the applicant in the past.
