Trinity Research Doctorate Awards 2026-27

The Trinity Research Doctorate Award 2026–27 is an opportunity provided by Trinity College Dublin to doctoral applicants at the university. These awards aim to strengthen Trinity’s research community while contributing to local and global social and sustainability goals. A total of 12 new awards will be offered across two categories—PI-led and Joint Student-PI. Each award covers full tuition fees (for four years, full-time) and provides an annual stipend of €25,000 (₹25,47,875 approx.).

Trinity College Dublin is offering this opportunity. 

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• belong to any discipline within Trinity College Dublin
• apply under one of two categories:
  • Category 1 (PI-led): Open to early-career researchers appointed during or after the 2020–21 academic year who are eligible PhD supervisors under Calendar regulations.
  • Category 2 (Joint Student+PI): Open to student–supervisor pairs, where the student has applied for a full-time PhD starting in 2026–27, and the supervisor is eligible to supervise doctoral students under university regulations

The selected candidates shall receive:-

• full tuition fee coverage
• an annual stipend of €25,000 (₹25,47,875 approx.)

• Statement of purpose (max. 1500 words)
• Lay abstract of the proposal (max 400 words).
• Statement on the student’s involvement and potential benefits (max 200 words).
• Impact statement detailing the award’s significance for the applicant’s research development (max 400 words).
• Statement on current and planned research funding (max 200 words).
• Supervisor’s brief CV (for Category 2 applications).

The scholars are selected based on the evaluation of their applications as follows:

• 25 marks: Research design and methodology.
• 35 marks: Research impact and innovation.
• 20 marks: Impact on supervisor’s (PI) research trajectory.
• 20 marks: Impact on the student’s research trajectory.
