Vice-Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship for India 2025 is an opportunity offered by the University of Waikato, New Zealand to provide financial assistance to students who are enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate programmes. The selected candidates will a scholarship up to NZD15,000 (₹7,46,558 approximately) towards tuition fees. Successful recipients are also expected to become global ambassadors for the University of Waikato.

Who can apply for this scholarship ?
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be a citizen or permanent resident of India
- be enrolling in a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate program as a new international student at the University of Waikato
- have a minimum GPA equivalency of B+ in the qualification required for admission to the University of Waikato
- have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato
Note:- Applicants admitted to the University of Waikato through a sponsoring body, guaranteed credit arrangement, study abroad program, or student exchange agreement are not eligible for this scholarship.
Applicants will be deemed ineligible if any of the following apply:
- Currently enrolled at the University of Waikato College or any University of Waikato degree program
- Have paid tuition fees or applied for a visa at the time of application
- Enrolling at the University of Waikato via a sponsoring body, on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement, or through a study abroad or student exchange agreement.
- Are offshore applicants applying on or after:
- 31st December for A Trimester offer of a place
- 30th April for B Trimester offer of a place
- 31st August for C Trimester offer of a place
- 31st October for H or X Trimester offer of a place
What are the benefits ?
The selected candidates will receive a one-time scholarship worth between NZD 2,500 and NZD15,000 (₹1,24,426 - ₹7,46,558 approx.). This will be paid towards the first 12 months of study at the University of Waikato and will be split evenly across two trimesters.
Note:-
- Students must pay the full fee amount minus the scholarship amount.
- The scholarship will be valid for 14 days. Applicants must accept within this specified time, otherwise it will become invalid.
- The number of scholarships offered and the value of each scholarship are at the discretion of the Scholarships Committee.
- The disbursal will be based on criteria such as funding available, intended program of study, duration of program, number of credits enrolled, and GPA equivalency.
- Any remaining tuition fees and costs will not be covered under the scholarship.
- The maximum tenure for the scholarship is 12 months.

Eligible applicants can follow these steps to apply:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register' (Note:- If already registered, log in using the registered email ID.)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'How To Apply' section, click 'Application to enrol', and fill in the details to create a Waikato account (Note:- If already registered, log in using valid credentials.)
Step 4: After the successful creation of an account, navigate to the 'How To Apply' section and click on 'Apply Now'.
Step 5: Fill the required information, upload the necessary documents and submit the application form.
What are the documents required for the Vice-Chancellor’s International Excellence Scholarship for India 2025?
- A valid passport/visa
- Marksheet/degrees of previous examinations
- A conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato
What are the selection criteria ?
Applications will be ranked and recommended based on the selection criteria decided by the International Office and forwarded to the selection panel for consideration. The selection panel will comprise the chair of the Scholarships Committee and the Director International or their nominees. The selection panel's decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into following each selection meeting.
What are the important dates ?

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition fees for the agreed programme of study either at the time of enrolment or once their enrolment is completed.
- Candidates must reside in New Zealand, remain full-time students at the campus, and maintain the status of international student for the scholarship tenure. Any changes in these situations will lead to partial/full removal of the scholarship from the student's account.
- Students who are offered a scholarship and have a pathway offer for study at the University of Waikato will have their scholarship applied to their degree programme following the successful completion of their pathway programme.
- Applications will be ranked and recommended according to the Selection Criteria by the International Office and forwarded to the Selection Panel for consideration. The Selection Panel’s decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into following each selection meeting.
- The Scholarship cannot be held in conjunction with any other University of Waikato-funded tuition fees scholarship, award, bursary or other such funding, nor can it be held in conjunction with any Education New Zealand scholarships
- By accepting the scholarship, the candidate agrees to participate in any reasonable publicity concerning the scholarship arranged by the University of Waikato.
- The Scholarships Committee has the power to amend or vary these regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Scholarship.
- Students must inform the scholarship committee of any circumstantial changes that may affect the eligibility criteria/scholarship rules.
- The scholarship can be terminated and recouped if the candidate is found unworthy of the program, brings disrepute to the scholarship/university, or fails to comply with scholarship/university rules and regulations. In such cases, the candidate has been given the right to appeal against any decision to terminate the scholarship.
